Default Quick Release

Is a quick release necessary to run an aftermarket steering wheel? Or can you just run an adapter hub and the actual wheel? I'm just curious because I have no need for the quick release but it seems like everyone gets one. Thanks guys!

No, you don't. You can just buy the hub adapter.

I have the NRG quick release on my RD. It actually does more than release the wheel. It puts the wheel another 2" closer to me which is more comfortable.

you don't need one, but like jon said, a closer steering wheel is usually a bit more comfortable..

i didn't have a quick release on mine (absolutely NO reason you need to remove your wheel on the fly) and the entire wheel/hub combo cost me about 45$ shipped.

Of course there is. It freaks old people out pretending your wheel fell off at 60mph.

HAHAHAH yes.. or if your in the ghetto and you want to carry your wheel around like a tard..

that 'freaking people out' reminds me of my old dual tank f-150.. switching tanks secretly on the highway or in the middle of nowhere was hialrious..

yup, fitting a quick release isn't necessary but it increases the car's security.

release the steering wheel, put it in your backpack and don't worry about thugs driving off with your car
