question on system...
im planning to buy system in next week.
i dont want too loud or too weak, so my plan is buy one - L7 Kicker 12. I dont know anything about sound system, so i need you guys' help.
My question is amp and receiver.
cd player im using now is Panasonic Mp3 player which i forgot name but has 45x4. I'm going to buy new receiver but i'll buy system before i buy new receiver. So is it okay to have 45x4 wit system or should i buy something better.
oh and i will buy only 1 12", so how may watts do i need for amp.
like i said, i dont want too loud, but not too weak, just good enough. I'm kinda out of money, so i'm planning to buy cheaper amp.
Should i spend money on sub than amp, or amp than sub.
oh and im goign to buy L7 12 for about 215bux, for brand new box from store, is it good price or can i get it for better price
thanks for your help
oh also, my car has single din dash, but if I buy double din dash, then can I put double din cd player? or is there any other parts that i have to change to get double din audio, also how much usually and where can i buy dash? (maybe dealer?)

im using the L5 solobaric 12" woofer, in a 3.75 cu. ft. box using a rockford fosgate power 800.2 amp.
I have the amp wired using 2 ohms which makes my amp too hot and it cuts out occasionally, but only really when im thumping hard for a good half hour. I have the gain on the amp set to 1/2 for street and kick it up to about 3/4 for competition.
if you use an amp that can push 2 4 ohm channels at about 4-500 watts and have it set at half gain, you'll be seeing something really loud when you want it to be, and really quiet when you want it to be.
I can barely hear my sub when i have the bass all the way down, when i set my bass to 0, its hella loud. everything about like 3 on the bass setting on my headunit just creates distortion.
I say a good 800 watt amp is great, especially if the amp has an external bass control, like a lot of higher class amps do. This way you have a very controlled environment.
BTW, i spent 200 bucks on my amp, i bought it used from a friend, if it werent for the fact that my amp is a 4 ohm stable amp and im using it at 2 ohms, id say get the one im using.
If you do get a fosgate power 800.2 which is 4 ohm stable get the dual 2 ohm version of the L7 solobaric and wire it up so the amp pushes 4 ohms to the sub, youll get a good unrated 960 watts, which is what the site says this amp is capable of, but i think that is a max power situation, and only for a few seconds.

For one how are you getting the sub for 215 thats way below manufactures suggested retail price (I sell it) mabey its last years l7 which is this years l5 but anyway good price either way. I would first off get a dual 4 ohm voice coil they are louder than the dual 2's i have actually heard this from a kicker rep. (dont understand the physics behind it) second find a amp that will push about 500 to 750 watts RMS (not when lightning strikes power) good clean power mabey a kicker kx 500.2 It can do 2 ohm mono even though it says it wont got a 400.2 at 2 ohm dosnt even get hot. 3rd get a about a 3.125 cubic ported enclosure that is tuned to about 35 hz should do it will be plenty loud and will sound F##king awesome very punchy with lots of lows
Other wise i woldnt be doing 4 10" l5's in my car (but you didnt hear that from me wink )

hmm i guess it's old, becuz i have never seen him selling any ahahah
but it's not used L7 for sure.
hmm then i guess it's not bad price.
Oh and i'm kinda out of money, so i'm just planning to buy amp that costs around 100~120.
I dont want anything loud, but just better than stock you know, like i just want littel base.
so is it okay if i buy any amp?
or can you suggest me any specific amp?

if your going to buy a amp thats around the 100-120 range look into crossfire they are very well known and have excelent rattings actualy underrated by 15-20% easy, the vr140 is a awsome 2 channel amp and when you decide to buy a larger amp for subs it can be used for your mids and highs even factory tiburon speakers are pretty damn good better than most, i ran mine for the longest time with a tek 35.2 same as the vr140 diffrent year and it would blow some peoples minds that they were stock
eventually went to Mb Quart Qm's he he he but yeah the crossfire is also only about 130 bucks and its clean power distortion .02. if not i will have a sony es 1000 watt amp for sale here soon email me at ( speedskateracer2@aol.com ) if your interested would deffinitly be in your price range and is in very good condition. its 1 ohm stable and everything.

u can buy then for less than that on the internet. you can buy 12" L7's for $200.For one how are you getting the sub for 215 thats way below manufactures suggested retail price (I sell it)
I would put the L7 in a sealed box(because you dont want "that loud"), this would give you tighter more accurate base. If you port it you will just get louder inacurate sort of hollow sounding base.
As for an amplifier if you want a nice clean amp that will run that sub great... Buy an Audiobahn A2301q, you can find one for around 175 New including shipping. It will run 210 w RMS @ 4ohms but i think its underated. Good solid amp.
