I had taken off my dash yesterday to paint the interior paneling, and when I put everything back today, for some reason the vent controls don't work. Everything is plugged where it belongs, the a/c goes on, but only comes out the defroster vents no matter what the setting...anyone ever had a similar problem or know what could be wrong?

 

Nah man that's wierd. Are you sure you hooked everything back together properly?

I've kept the heat selector cable unhooked for a bit once, but other than that, I dunno.

 

yea, I even took everything out and put it back in again, THREE TIMES, and same problem...I must say that I'm quite baffled!

 

i had a similar problem, and I´m just going to say check again the clear hoses behind the controls. or check a little hose behind the IM left side. that was I got the problem, some hose was desconnected and if you dont have that hose in the right place the controls wont work.

the controls works with air from the IM.

 

you must check all of the pressure hoses. also, check that heater knob cable to make sure it is working properly.

So what was it?
Was it one of the pressure hoses like Tibby01 mentioned?

 

heater knob cable makes no difference for the venting system, should blow without the cable attached as well. You only have to use your right foot to adjust the temperature.

It was probably one off the clean tubes which was not properly connected, like 3 times. So the TS is a bit embaressed rolleyes.gif

 

Nice one tibby01 i bet that was the cause. It needs a vacuum to push or pull open the vents, I'll bet money on that being the cause.

 

Actually it was the dumbest possible thing imagineable...I didn't realize that when I reconnected everything and turned the key to test all the controls that I needed to actually start the car. After looking at Hyundai WebTech and realizing the pressure regulator I guess...repressurized the vacuum until I remembered sharkev having said something about the intake manifold. Basically, I didn't do anything wrong, I just hadn't started the car lol. It turned out good though, I'm going to take some pictures of my painted interior when I get the chance.
