Default Powering a sub with a lower powered amp
If I have a 1,000 RMS sub and I power it with a 500 RMS amp, will it sound like ass or will it just not be as loud as it can be? Basically, will underpowering a sub make it sound bad?

Only if you turn it up loud enough to cause the amp to clip pretty hard. Otherwise, no.
