Power Door Locks Failing
Every 4th time or so I lock the doors via the drivers side lock, the passenger side doesn't lock. One or two additional tries remedies the situation.
Neither door has ever been disassembled.
Has anyone experienced this, if so, what do i do to fix it?
I did a search, and only found the DIY on the subject

i have this same problem, it gets worse in the winter. when it starts up again, im gonna go do some searching with a multimeter and narrow it down. im guessing its a common problem, and im sure everyone would like to know how to fix it.
my guess, weak pass. actuator.
my guess, weak pass. actuator.
Mine has done that once or twice.
What's worse is my doors will sometimes lock themselves for no apparent reason; For example when I'm driving or sometimes when the driver's side door is slammed shut. I worry the keys'll get locked in one day if I'm not careful sad.gif

I have a similar problem as some of you desribed but I have found the problem and solution to the problem I was having. It might be different then you guys but you all might want to check it out.
Sometimes during a bit colder days, the passanger side door hand ( from the outside ), once you pull on it it doesn't retract all the way back. When this happens the doors will try to open but the lock will only go up half way then go back down. So I ussually just push the outside handle back into "neutral" and it fixes my problems. I also sprayed WD40 all in there when I had my door open a couple months ago.

Well then I'm think it's your actuators.
Make sure they get enough power.
Make sure that they can move freely. The bar from the actuator should be almost at a 35degree's (at most) or closer to the actuall bar from the door lock.
I would also spray some WD-40 around the mechanisms that open and close the door. (Where the 2 door lock bars meet the Primary lock)
EDIT: I just re-read your post, How do you get inside your car without pulling the handle open? That's what I mean, once you UNLOCK you pull the handle to get in then close the door. The handle might not go all the way back into "neutral" and might cause your lock button not to go down all the way. This may not happen ALL the time but sometimes it does get a bit stuck. You also might not notice because once your drive for about 5 minutes, the vibrations and road bumps or what now might easy the handle back into neutral slowly. I would check it out smile.gif

i push unlock, dirver side and pass. side doors are unlocked. i open drivers door and hop in. after driving some i get out, and hit lock on the remote. drivers side locks(most of the time) pass. side almost never locks.
im just gonna get some DEI actuators. i dont want to have to cut up all the sound deadening im about to lay down on the doors just to swap out those actuators.

Well, I had the same problem....
As all the rest tiburons that drive over here....
I changed it like 5 times, evetually finding out that the real solution is:
Wait for it:
Just tighten the bolt on the metal pin that the OEM - passanger side actuator, is using to lock and unlock the door!
It seems to get loose after years of use.
Try it, and thank me. fing02.gif
JUst remove the inner trim from your passanger side door, and you'll see, by playing with the remote or the Door lock switch on the driver side, what moves. Then, trace the long metal shaft that you'll see moving, and you'll see it moving a set of parts. See a bolt? tightn it along that chain of actions.
Of yeah, DONT replace your OEM actuators. the aftermarket once don't seem to hold on for long...
