Well I did the Sparkplug cover and it turned out great so I think that I am going to go and do the dash and the doors myself as well.
Question what brand, style, kind of spray paint do I need to buy to do this with?

Best stuff to use is the "DupliColor High Performance : Vinyl and Fabric." works great. THats what i use. It will bubble and stuff first coat. But every coat after turns out perfect.
Best thing to do.
1. Take off all pieces u want painted
2. Remove trim pieces unless u want to paint all
3. Cover pieces in thinner
4. Texturize the surface with a scotch brite pad. *dont use sand paper.. horrible*
5. Clean off with wet rag
6. Dry throughely
7. Paint
8. Let sit. 10-15 min for first coat.
9. Apply coats as needed.
10. Then do 1&2 but putting back together and ur done. smile.gif
Can take pics of mine... Currently swapped to RD2 Dash. Looks great.

I have an RD2 and was hoping that it would go as easy as the plug cover did. Thanks for the tips and would love to see any pics that you have of your dash as well. I am going to do the main dash for the driver and the center console and the areas on the doors like I have seen in many other pics. I hope that I will be able to match up the cobalt blue to the paint of the Tibby itself.

You should do some searching for Paint Dash, you'll find lots of pics and lots of info.

Very very nice job there. That is how I am wanting to do my dash but I did not think about making the cup holder silver. Nice touch there, I might have to steal that one from you and use it in my car. Got to wait till my boots get here so that I will be able to match up the color blue then I am all over painting mine up.
How many coats of primer and then paint did you do?
