If your going to put a fiber chick and subs in there anyway . . .it's about appearance and standing out. You want function? Enter sound competitions. She isn't uh. . . equipped for that.

F*ckin bad A$$

Anyone with sense.

well with that type of thinking 90% of showcars wouldn't exist. Do you honestly think that box was built around the thought of sound quality or do you think it was built to catch your eye?

Then it's good I'm not a show judge. Most judging sheets have audio sections. I'd ask how it sounds and tell him to crank it up. If he didn't or it sounded bad, he'd get major points off on his audio section.

If I were king for a day, damn straight... 90% of show cars would be crushed.

I agree.
That would sound like A$$.
I would never do shyt like that.
Its so stupid.
Maybe for a joke.
But probably and expensive and time consuming joke.

Im sure the sound fanatics like mtself would agree
that it is stupid.

As long as the fiberglass housing is sturdy, it's all a matter of how much airspace is available for the speaker and the positioning. I can guarantee that much FG is heavy as hell. Each of those speakers requires at least 1CuFt of airspace and it looks like they have it. The rest is in positioning. They don't look like they're positioned optimally for best vibration, but they look like they would move alot of air, so my money is on them sounding pretty decently

There's alot of different types of car shows. Some are classic car shows, some are audio car shows, dropped, manufacturer speciffic, and some are modified car shows. Some car shows have multiple catagories with different judging criteria for each catagory.

At most car shows I've been to the cars are off. I always keep my car on to score points in the "other" or "overall" coloumns for my stero/light display/TVs and my stero is not loud. The judging sheets in general competition usually consist of catagories like Exterior, Interior, Engine, trunk, and other with certain sub catagories like maintenance/rust, clenliness, modification, origonality, and other.

As far as I can see from this picture, the modification was performed cleanly. It's origonal. They performed the modification well. It's very clean. They have a color scheme of red/white/black going on with the rest of the car. This thing is straight up show. It's cleanly and customly modified. A judge would have no choice but to rate it high on a tangable chart. The only thing I can see wrong is that the wires are exposed and just kinda tossed everywhere, not even taped down.

If I were a judge and given an "other" coloumn, I'd say that thing gives me the heeby jeebies. It's ugly. The speakers were just postioned to make them look like boobs but obviously sound was 2nd rate. The trunk is unusable, so functionality was tossed to the wind in this modification. Any modification that reduces functionality is a bad modification IMO. It's not a very good way to waste 9 cubic feet of trunk space. Also, as I mentioned before, the wires are exposed.

I hate the look. But it would definately score well at a car show.

The shape of the box also matters.

Yes, but if you pack a box with foam or cotton it helps to eliminate standing waves.
