i was look at my truck magazine(streettrucks) and they had a ad for somethin i thought was kinda cool
its called the magic touch door handle system
what you do is shave off your handles, then magic touch supplys you with some really flat paintable metal that can adhere to your door and what you do is put your hands near that flat metal and the door pops open
they also have a system where instead of that flat metal thing you shave your handles off and install a little clear sensor to your glass ANYWHERE on the car poke that sensor and your door pops open...
check it out (click here) lookin through the site it seems if they havent made one for a certain car yet its like 1k for the entire setup....

that's really cool! they should start making cars with sensors that detect keys so that all you would have to do is plug the key in for the door to open...
looks cool man, but how would you be sure the door wouldn't pop open for anyone else? i mean, what if they knew about it?

you would have to have an alarm with this that only lets power go to the solenoid that is activated by touching when the alarm is disarmed.
but if you go through that, i think it would be cooler to just get door poppers.

Back when I lived in Maine a friend of mine who was a para-pilegic(sp?) had a van where on his keychain he had this thing that looked like a speed pass (couldn't use buttons on a remote) and he could wave it at his passenger tailight and the car would unlock, the door would open and his lift would unfold and lower to the ground. That van was sick!!
well, the new TVRs all have under mirror buttons to open the doors... so this would not be much differnt. Under the mirror.. or even IN the mirror would not be a bad place for the sensor either.
that would be sick but i'm not sure i would pay 400 per door for it,you can just get door poppers in a kit for much cheaper then that, and they would come with an emercancy switch that you could place else where.
