After my car got broken into last month, I thought it a good time to get one of these, simply because I hate not having keyless entry. State Farm is sending me a little money (Thanks SOCKS), so it goes into this.

Any model #s I should consider? I'm clueless about these.

Also, how much $ am I looking at?

I have a 5Sp, so remote start isn't desired.

Thanks

I don't know about the model number, but as far as remote start goes, Cam (KayJai) was telling me about how his was setup. It would only work to start it if the car was out of gear. I forget exactly how it worked, but if he didnt follow a certain sequence while turning his car off it wouldnt allow him to remote start it (for safety reasons)
I'm sure if you would PM him he could give you more info.

Tell you what you can spend alot on an alarm or a lil it depends on how you feel about the alarm after it's installed. I have had a few different alarms in my time from top of the line to some really cheap ones and I got one for the tibby about a year ago and paid $9.99 for it on ebay then $15 shipping So lets say $25 then I got a door solenoid kit from ebay also for $6.99 for both doors plus a few bucks for shipping.. Anyways I put in the system and have been happy with it the alarm is just sensative enough but not to touchy if you adjust it right... if you want I can find the links and you'd have a system with remote door's for less than $50.00

Ps. you can add the remote start it you add a reed switch it the shifter

you need to figure out what you want out of your alarm system and how much you are willing to spend. some words of wisdom...

1. if you piece together your system, make sure you dont cheap out on the sensors. you will regret it, trust me.
2. if you get it installed somewhere, get a warranty.
3. make sure that the place does clean installs. check out other cars and make sure they just dont stuff the alarm brain barely out of the way, supported by wires. that will be bad.

i think ive ventured to the end of the alarm world on a tib, so im here for any questions you have.

Well, I finally got this done. The unit was placed inside the lower part of the dash, adjacent to the hood popper.

The two motors were installed in the doors with 2 relays (Don't ask me what the relays were for).

The wiring was run inside the dash and the install seemed reasonably clean. The system locks the doors whenever I turn the key to 'on' and unlocks them when I turn the car off.

I also replaced the blown fuse and the wires were reconnected to the new stereo. So far, everything works.

good to hear man, although i would suggest trying to move the alarm brain a little bit. every shop puts them there, im sure thats the first place thieves look when they break into a car and the alarm goes off. just cut power to that and the siren stops unless you have a backup battery.
