Default interior door handles

To someone just staring out with this whole interior painting, I suggest unscrewing your door know backing, comes off easy ( act like your gonna open the door and slide it off, its very easy) and painting it 1st. I did this, got some experience on how many coats, how long it took it to dry and to make sure if it's what you want color wise. it's basically the same material so it will be the same color as the rest of the door. i did mine in red, used spray paint, it looks great! people are asking me to do theres for them! haha! im doin my other part of the door silver, or maybe white. what would look best on a silver car, i think silver will...metallic of course! also, the actual door handle on the inside...those scrw covers come off with ease and i pained mine red too. they look very good too. make sure you use a high gloss paint tho!! tongue.gif

I did my door and dash also, heres what I did.
1) sanded down dash and door with 600 grit sandpaper (wet sanded) just so the primer can get some bite on the plastic
2) primered with VHT sandable/filler primer, 3 coats with light sanding of rough spots inbetween
3) let it sit over night
4) First coat put on let dry for 1 1/2 hours then wet sanded, dried and put second coat on and repeated the steps 4 more times (6 coats of paint
5) let sit overnite
6) Put first coat of clear on (did not wet sand) only wet sand if you buy a laquer from a store do not wet sand auto clear coat because if you don't have a buffer and experience doing this kind of work you will not get all the scratches out. 4 hrs later put second coat on, 2 hrs later put last coat of clear on
7) left sit for 2 days
8) buffed all pieces out with #82510 champagne finishing cream (you can find this at the auto paint store)
9) reinstalled dash and door
10) sat back and stared at it lol
Well this is how I did it, big thing not to do is be in a big hurry. If you need the paint code it is on the driver side door on a black piece of metal mine was "BX" and my car is silver. Hope all of this helps.

I painted my interior silver. Here is how to get the door piece out. You will see the heating ducts up to remove all of those screws the top vent (that blows air on the window) will still be held on by one or two pieces of metal I forget bend them back and all the ducts will come out. Thwn the rubber piece the the ducts connect to just pull the little rubber tabs back and the pull it out. ok the handle you will see 2 screws about the size of a dime remove them and the handle will come off. Now to get the panel out go around the whole panel alittle above where the cardbord stuff and the plastic meet you will see little black screws remove all of them then on the bottom you will see the map holder remove those screws because underneath the map holder are 4-5 hidden gold screws once you remove them the plastic insert will come out. Although it might sound funny if you don't want to go step by step by what I told you just remove every damn screw you see except for 2 around the speaker grill it's not like you can't put them back in. And that big piece of metal you can leave alone it doesn't interfear with the removal or the reinstallation of the plastic insert. Hope that helps
