The old gas/trunk release assembly broke so I bought the new assebly off a hyundai parts site and need to install it. How do i this without haveing to take the carpet out of the entire car? Any suggestions or has anyone done the before? I hope its not hard and i need to access the old assembly, unbolt it, take of the cables going to the trunk and gas tank door and then install the new assebly and cables. Help I am confused and dont want to have to take all the carpet up if I dont have to?? Please help

Taking off the carpet isn't so bad. Getting to the edges of the carpet to take it off is a minor hassle, though. It's kind-of an important part, and worth the effort IMO. You may be able to get away with just pulling up half the carpet. You may be able to leave the seats in, even, but it seems like a tight work area if you do. If it seems like you have to remove something, go for it and it will likely make the 5 minutes of remove/reinstall on the lever assembly that much easier. One tip: a trim removal tool might come in handy for the clip/buttons that hold the trim down, as they can snap when pulled too hard the wrong way.
