Default installing HU

First, pull up on the part that surrounds the shifter, then the pull straight out to get the part that is around the HU out. they are all held in with clips.

You can buy a wiring harness and dash kit (to fit single DIN if you came with double DIN) from almost any store that has car audio. Should run about $15-20 total.

As canadianshark said, pull up on the shifter surround plastic piece, then pull the headunit surround directly towards the shifter. If you have an automatic, you may have to drop the auto down into 2nd to get it out. You also have to open/close the ash tray to get it in/out. No big deal really

those screws around the shifter are just for show, the whole piece is plastic.
I think we all have tried to undo at least one of those screws when we wanted to get that piece out.

When I had to get the shifter surround off, I figured that they were plastic, but I couldn't resist trying to see if they were actual screws. I quickly figured out that it was plastic, and yes I felt dumb.

best way to pull up the shifter surround.. get your fingers under the edge where it meets the boot and give it a good jerk upwards.

careful not to break it though. I broke a small corner off of mine because the damn clip wouldn't un-clip. It's still very stubborn when coming out. Just pull upward and it'll come. No screws necessary (except the ones that hold in the HU)
