Hi Folks

Is it possible to install a Double din Radio into an European RD1 , without to self molding the radio surround?
I mean I remember that I saw some RD2 with a Double Din Radio Surround , is that right?
My Idea was to install a RD2 Double Din Radio Surround into my RD1 , would the RD2 R. Surround fit?

Should be fine. Do you have a double din surround? You could chop the single din and use it. Post pics of your radio surround area and the unit you will be installing.

 

No, an RD2 double din surround will not fit with the rest of an RD1 dash, its more squared off than the RD1 surround. You would need an RD1 double din surround, which I don't believe there were ever any made. You could easily cut teh bar between the radio and the pocket below it, and trim a little on the edges so it will fit a double din radio.

 

there are rd1 double din. i have one. if you want i can ship mine to you from poland. and since you're family i'd hook you up but just cover the shipping.

show me a photo of your current din.

 

This was my most feared problem that the RD2 Surround wouldn`t fit the RD1 Dash optically.
So if this is fact I have to think about a new idea.
But to make this clear the RD2 Double Din Radio Surround would fit mechanically into a RD1 right?

anyway, I didn't know there were RD1 double dins. Sirbao, no the RD2 won't fit without modification, as I said it is more squared off at the sides and won't fit to the upper part of the dash or the shifter surround. You would need to swap the entire dash to RD2 which is a real PITA. I would definitely take HKC up on that offer, you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
