What do people think of the basslink system? It seems like a great solution for people that want bass, but don't want the hassle of seperate amp, sub and enclosure.
Heres the link - http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/pr...Ser=BSL&Cat=SUB
Plus, does anyone know of a good deal going on these at the moment, they seem to be cheaper on Ebay, but I would rather buy from a reputed outlet as I would need it shipping to the UK (can't find any stockists over here).
TIA

Well, I would be a little skeptical if it was from any other company, but Infinity makes some of the best speakers around. Their "Perfect" line of subs and components are amazing.
A 200W built in Class D amp should power that 10" pretty well and the way it is all wrapped up into a neat little packages is pretty cool. I believe the new Acura RSX Type R's come with a Basslink or some similar product right in the spare tire (or maybe it's BOSE? Not sure...). But at any rate, I have heard that the RSX 10" sub is pretty decent for what it is.
But out of curiosity, how much are they worth?

Pardon me for saying this, but isn't this just Infinity's verson of the type of system Bazooka's been selling for years? Granted...I know the Bazooka's usually sound like crap, and Infinity's are known to sound good...I'm just wondering how good a small 10" sub with no enclosure can really sound.
I don't really know too much about the Basslink, but like Zorro said, it seems like a decent alternative for people who want to add some bass to their system without the hassle of a separate sub, amp, and enclosure.
I think the entire "cube" acts as an enclosure for the 10" sub, although granted, it does look quite small. I have heard "free air" installations for 10" subs in the past, and suprisingly, they didn't sound too bad (a bit boomy, but not bad).
Depending on what the price is, I think that the Basslink could be worth a shot.
PS - Bazooka... I've heard em' play, I've heard em' blow, and I've seen them smoke.

Heh. I've got a photograph of a Bazooka tube with a huge plume of smoke coming out of the port. I was trying to get a photo with the cone motion-blurred, so we cranked the bass for a minute. I snapped the shutter just as the voice coil vaporised. smile.gif
Some of those systems are better than others. I used to have a pair of Kicker substations that weren't bad at all, they worked quite nicely, until I turfed them in favor of my current pair of 10" subs. The thing with those to remember is not to expect it to get that loud. They just aren't built for it.

The list price is 500USD, but you can get them from ebay for 250USD. Not that I really want to buy something from ebay and get it shipped to the UK. I suppose eventually the basslink will be available in the UK...in about 5 YEARS! sad.gif LOL wink.gif
