Default Indiglo Gaufes

Ok this weekend I took my dash apart and painted it and installed the 5-color indiglo gauges. Well I am still painting the dash and what a hassle it has been to make it try to look good!!! And the gauges I finally got installed today. The speedometer and the rpm needles would not work at first But I finally got them to work. Now I need to know where the best place to wire the gauges to so they can work. I thought about the headlight wires but where are they at??? Any other easy and quick suggestions are welcomed!!!

cig lighter, keyed power for radio, dimmer switch ( although not really suggested). I connected mine to the cig lighter or you could also wire it to the remote turn on wire of the radio that is if the one you have is aftermarket.

Thanks... I was thinking about wiring it to my cig lighter, but then they would be on all the time. But I guess that is where I will wire them to. I do have a dimmer switch for them.

Your cig lighter should only be on when the ignition is in "ACC" (accessory) or "ON". Turned off, it should not be putting out power.

I would wire them to your fuse box. Maybe like your headlights or something. That way, the gauges come on like normal ones. Only when you turn on your driving or headlights.

Yeah I know steele...I meant they would be on all the time that my car was running instead of just on like normal gauges are when you turn your headlights on. Hey Lo&Show do I have to wire them to my fuse box in order to have them come on with my headlights??? My original ??? was where was the headight wiring so I could wire the gauges to the them. But I did not know where the headlight wiring was.

The wire for the parking lights is a 14 gauge white wire coming from the ignition harness it is the only one in the cluster of wires you must drop the bottom dash to get to it. the wire I was talking about is the power source for the light in the ash try that I tapped into which is only supplied 12 volts when your lights are on. And yes the power supply for the cigareete lighter is a keyed power source so your gauges will only light when you turn your car on or in the accessory position.

Thanks Jaws99!!! I will try that tomorrow. I went ahead and wired the gauges to my cd player...its an aftermarket cd player. But their on whenever I turn my car on. I wanted to wire the gauges into the headlight wiring so that they would flash on and off when my alarm is turned on or off!!! wink.gif

They will blink also if you tap into the light for the ash tray the only reason I suggested doing it there again is because you already have the wire right there and would be easier to tap into it then reroute it to the ignition harness.
