So, when I got my tib, the previous owner had installed a set of component speakers in the front with the tweeter glued down to the door. I'm going to be replacing them with a different set, and plan on mounting my new tweeters in a set of custom sail panels. This will leave small holes in the top of the door panel where the old tweeters used to be, and I'm not sure what I'd like to do with it. Anyone have any good ideas for how to either a) plug the hole nicely, or b) put it to some kind of fun use? The pictures show what I started with, and were the hole & new mounts will be...

There were some good ideas there. Put a oil/voltage gauge there. Put some strobing LEDs....... Of course the blinker fluid cap was a joke.

I figured my fellow Montanian would understand that.

No reason to delete the post. You could plug it up with a blinking LED and a 2" rubber plug, or you could pimp it out.

show me one car you that a owner from ANY forum has added aftermarket gauges to the doors.

she is obviously wanting something that looks like a factory option Adam, not from the "ricer" section of Pep Boys.

i'm not saying my idea was the only way, but what you posted is not something that we try to encourage around here.

people having a cat-fight aside... what about little plastic plugs like the ones that go over the screws on the handle or the lower dash, then it would look factory, not many people are going to take the time to think about the fact that there isn't really a screw thee and it would blend in.

Isn't she a HE and didn't he request either a factory or a fun use?

Wow... I checked this thread before I left work, and in the time it took me to drive home, there's been a post deleted, an arguement about silly options, and another arguement about he/she...

Adam - A description would've been nice on your first post. I figured at least some of it was a joke, but not all the pics worked and the others really made no logical sense.

The two options I had thought of before initially posting were similar to a couple suggestions here: either find some kind of plug (dunno where I'd find one though), or pop a surface mount LED in there. The best uses I'd come up with for the LED was for a turn signal indicator or mood lighting, which would not really be useful, so I definitely like the security indicator idea. I probably won't put an alarm in (at least not yet), but it would make good use of the space, and still be reletively classy.

Just so it helps, and so noone needs to bicker about it:
The CAR is Libby, and of course the car is a SHE
I, the owner, who usually posts here, am a HE
sorry for any confusion there!

Couple of suggestions, neither very likely to be taken up but worth a moment's thought:

Mounting location for side veiw mirrors. Shave the outside ones and get some that are severely convex for the doors
or
Get something electroluminescent or LED powered that pulses/dances to the beat of music
or
Make a housing (looks like you're not afraid of custom fabrication) to hold a courtesy lamp that *really* lights up the way when someone is getting into/out of the car
or
Hyundai badges?

You could either get new door panels from a junk yard, or wrap the panels in vinyl, leather, tweed, or some other fabric (it'll hide the hole)....or fiberglass the doors and all imperfections, and spray it with professional exterior automotive paint. smile.gif
