I wanna paint my dash and doors. Can some tell me the tools I'll need and all the basics to it? And what paint to use so it won't chip or anything.

Thanks alots,
Olli

Well the only tool youre gonna need is a phillips head screw driver and your hands.

As far as paint, everyone is gonna suggest Duplicolor.

Only real advice your gonna need is to take your time... Use care when painting... Its not to hard.

So should I sand them or prime them or anything first?

Yeah, youll want to clean everything VERY good! Yes, youll want to sand everything as well, how much is up to you, you can make all the pourus parts smooth but your goal is to make it so that the paint has something to stick to.

Priming is up to you... If you are gonna make a dramamtic change in color, I would suggest Primering. (i.e. if you are gonna go from the black to white or a light red)

By the way, welcome to the site!! laugh.gif

I told him to come here guys so he could figure out how to do some things to his Tiburon, he just bought a Tib yesterday or today, can't remember.

This is how I did it:

Take everything apart and wipe it all down with rubbing alcohol to get any armor all residue off or anything else that may be on there. Wet sand with 500 grit, prime, wet sand with 1000 grit, prime, wet sand with 1500, prime, spray 3-5 coats of your color, spray with clear, wet sand with 1000, clear, wet sand with 1500, clear, finally wet sand with 2000.

You do the wet sanding between each coat of primer, color, and clear.

Wow, thats lot sanding and primering...

I did forgot mention cleaning with the rubbing alcohol oops.gif
I sanded it down enough to get a rough surface... washed it off again to get the particles off. Then I used one coat of primer (grey) and since that came out nice and smooth I went over that with the color paint. I did three coats of color. and since it came out nice and shiney I didnt use a clear coat, although Im gonna go back and do it so that the paint doesnt fade as fast as it would by itself.

**edit
The reason for the sanding after the paint to to smooth out/off the surface for the next layer to make the after effect nice and smooth

Won't that fade the color and scractch it up if I wet sand after I paint?

Hobglobin makes more sense but Speed's sounds more quality, I just don't understand Speed's way
