Gonna be doing this tonight. Removing the back seats to save some weight and clean it up a little more using wood and black vinyl. No longer gonna be having rear passengers in the car, so this makes sense to me. smile.gif

 

The backrests have 90% of the weight. The base is like 5lbs. So if you're doing this for weight savings at the track, then you can easily just remove the backrests only for the day.
Adding a board and carpet may be regaining the weight you lost from the seats.

 

Had mine out for years, then the bottom of rsx seatsin for awhile ,and now(just last week ) restored an old grey set I got from a junkyard into black leather(leather/vynll paint)..way less road noise now and car looks more complete with black leather fronts and rears..but they still all come out for the track..6 bolts and the rears are out.

 

I did it. I used MDF covered in carpet. I then bolted my amp and stereo electronics to it.

 

do it and dont look back. passengers are over rated anyways
