It started as my replacing the black trunk release knob since mine was cracked, but while getting it off, I bent the whole release lever assembly and ordered a new release lever assembly off of a hyundai parts site. It was only 30 dollars shipped which wasn't too bad. How do i install the new lever release assebly? I am guessing i take out the part of the door plastic where you step into the drivers side and then pull back the carpet and undo and redo a few bolts and then attach the cables to the trunk and gas tank door then? Let me know how to do it if you have before, I can't belive it would be too hard.

Thanks

Matt

I am baffled at how to do this, do i tear the carept all out, the hole that the assebly goes through is too small to shove it out, but i dont want to cut the carpet either, there has to be a way to do this pretty easy, but i have to undo one bolt it looks like and then connect up the trunk and gas cables.

help me out please

thanks

Have you tried pulling back the carpet as far as you can from the assembly, unbolting it, dissconect it then pull it out of the carpet. Instead of trying to pull the carpet over it.
I don't know for sure and I'm not close enough to my car to go look to even get an idea.
