Default How I spent my weekend vacation (part 1)

Now for the interior...

Originally... with the momo Shift knob and handbrake cover...

And now with the Polished aluminum ring I installed:

I do not recomend this for anybody not willing to take a chance on the interior.. the Ring is made for the Mustang Bullet.. I bought it on eBay and the shift console required a LOT of work to make it look right. I had to enlarge the hole and then sand the raised "lip" that the RD1s have around the centre console flat... As you can see, my interior is the rare Anodized Bronze colour.. not black or silver.. Thankfully Home Depot carries spray paint in EXACTLY that shade... The shift boot needed work too.. the inner lip needed to be trimmed back to fit through the smaller opening of the aluminum ring...

Seeing as I was adding more engine shots.. I took another of the ring too... now all I have to do is get used to it.. everytime I get into the car, I catch glimpses of it and thing there is something on the console that shouldn't be there.

Nice. I thought it was round.

It would probably bug me for a while as well cause it would shine in my peripheral vision as well. Takes some getting used to I guess. smile.gif Bing Bling. lol.gif

it's a slip on... but first you have to get the PITA stock grip off... some people suggested heating.. I simply cut mine off. A rubber filler goes up on the metal inner part by the button and the rear is held in place by four allen set screws... six months so far.. no moving. I do need to replace the boot though.. I had to cut it to fit over the end of the handle.

all you have to do to get the ebrake cover of is twist and pull......twist it back and forth towards the doors a FEW times (30) then keep twisting and start pulling.

LOTS OF TWISTING and PULLING, but it will come off....... and once you pull it off, its easier to get off during later attempts.

took me about 15 minutes to get it off the 1st time....now 30 seconds tops, and it stays nice and tight when you put it back on.

well, I did mine in the dead of winter... it did not move AT all when I tried to twist it... even with heat... so out came the knife...
