Default how hot is too hot? trunk temps for car audio

I was doing some stuff to my amp wiring yesterday and my amps were too hot to touch. The car was sitting in the sun all day. Everything worked but it got me thinking.

What kinds of temps are people seeing in there hatch or trunk installs? And when do you start worrying about the heat and it affecting your gear?

It's 117 in Vegas and I've never had a problem.

It gets hot like the surface of the sun here in Miami with a lot of humidity. Never had any problems with my amps or subs.

"Too hot to touch" starts around 60ºC. Your electronics are happy to be at 60º all day. The most sensitive parts in the amp are the electrolytic capacitors and they are probably rated for 105º.

Unless you got an instant bad 2nd degree burn, I wouldn't even think twice about your amplifier's temperature unless it's shutting off due to the thermal protection kicking in.
