Default How To Get Sponsored: Part 4

Now for the proposal. Gather up all your work, and include it in a proposal. Besides including all of the information I stated in PART 3, explain in detail what you want from the company that you are approaching. Do you want them to donate products? Do you want them to pay for the installation? Include in the proposal who designed the system and what shop you intend to do the install. Include background about the shop, and include any magazines or newspapers that wrote about the shop.
Draft a short cover letter addressed to the marketing director of the company that you wish to send the proposal to. In the letter, give a brief description of your background and what is motivating you to do this project. Discuss the project including where it is at the time you are writing the letter and when you propose to have it finished. Also explain what exposure the potential sponsor may get. Finally, detail exactly what you want from teh company. Include a deadline for a response. Set up a time period to hear back, and then if you don't hear anything by that date...follow up with a phone call. If the company is not interested, then try and refine your proposal and approach another company.

Submit the proposal to 1 company in a given category at a time. For an example.....if you are looking for a company to donate amps, don't send your proposal to more than 1 company that offers amps. If a company turns you down, refine the proposal and send it to the next comapny Send thank you notes to companies that accept the project as well as those that do not.
