Default Hood pin switch

Hey guys,

Im having a hood pin switch installed for extra security in my car but my Viper alarm doesnt have a seperate port in the brain for a hood pin. Do you think I could just run the wiring and tap into one of the door pins? Thanks for the help.

Which Viper alarm do you have? Technically, if you have a 2-door car, and you can install the same alarm on a 4-door, there should be room for a sensor to connect. But if you say there isn't, I'd look into how a 4-door car would be connected, and just wire it up as if the hood pin is just another door.

Would you not still have to open the hood from inside the car?

HMMMM thats a tough one without looking at a schematic, if you post one with blocking out part numbers and etc I could help. Not too worry they are very generic unless you got a bada$$ install.

You sure there isn't a port labeled aux, that would have to be programmed for that function. The door pin may work but if you are doing a remote start combo thats gonna be kind of a pain at times.

Check polarity of the door lock trigger if it's negative then give it a go, if it's positive then fancy stuff would need to be done.Hmm even then I'm having doubts for some reason.....
