Help with HPF & LPF
I need some help with my High and Low pass filters for my subs. My amp has them built in and are adjustable from: Low 40-120 Hz and High 150-1.5k Hz. The amp also has a built in X-over adjustable from Full to High to Low. My HU also has them built in and are adjustable from: Low & High are both 78-125 Hz. My question is this: Where do these settings need to be to get the best sounding bass from my subs with the least amount of treble coming through the voice coils. I don't understand which of these (High or Low) cuts out the treble. If you can understand this, thank you in advance.
So where would I want to set that then. I'm probably going to turn both of them all the way up on the amp and use the HU to adjust the filters. So where do I set them both at, 78 or 125?
You should be able to set each of the HU filters independantly.
As to where you set them, its your own choice.
If you are going to set them and leave them, use the filters on the amps as they have more adjustability.
If you think you'll be changing them often to suit your mood or different music, then you should set the filters on the amps to FULL, and use the HU filters. Or get used to making constant adjustments wherever you mount the amps.

I won't be changing them. Once I set them and I am satisfied they will stay. I had them set at one time but then one of my friends changed the settings on the amp for some reason. evil.gif
ok, then turn off the ones on your HU, and set them.
Where exactly you set them will depend on a couple of things :
1.) What kinds of music you listen to
2.) Your own personal preference.
Post what types of music you typically listen to, and either I or MADTIB (hes the real car audio guy, I just know a bit more about this stuff than the average person off the street) can narrow it down from there.
But it will still ultimately come down to how YOU want it to sound.

98% Rap. My HU has a sub controller so I like to set the bass pretty high and then turn it up or down with that depending on the song or my mood.
