Headunit Problem
I have the JVC KD-G611
and yesterday I was gonna do some changes to my setup with amps etc. Suddenly, the main knob/wheel on the hu tightend more and more. Now I have to use tools to turn it around ( see picture ) I have no idea why this happend.. I took it out opened it, and there is nothing in there that could physically prevent the wheel from turning. Because of this, my stereo is unusable. Does anyone know if its possible to get only the front of the headunit?
If not, I really need a new one. What I like about this one is that it looks clean, and it has 3 sets of rca cable outputs, 2 normal ones, and one for sub. I run my front and rear speaker set on the normal and the subs on the sub ( duh ). Could anyone recommend a hu with at least these specs for around 150$? I have no clue how much a hu costs outside of norway, and for 150$ here you dont get much at all... I hope it gets me further elsewhere. So please, if you have any ideas how to fix, order a new front, or a nice new hu, tell me! sad.gif

Check ebay, Go with an older Alpine. I have the 9807. Great unit. 3 RCA outputs, Ai-Net for expanding and it plays MP3's. Alpine is the bomb. Great resale value and pretty safe when getting a used one. Alpines are known for their reliablity and sound reproduction. The new models will support Bluetooth this year, so you might want to save your money up and get that. Well, that is if you are getting an Alpine! smile.gif
As far as your JVC, if you want to stick with it, then just keep your eye out on ebay and wait till a faceplate is up for grabs and get it. just make sure its the same model number and you should be set.

you have 2 options.
1. find a jvc dealer and have him order you a new face for your stereo.
or
2. get a new stereo
jvc is a really cheap brand so you should have no trouble finding a new one for 150 or atleast just the face. maybe hit up long he has a stereo/audio thread goin and sells car audio.
alpine makes a nice stereo but there just strait out fugly.
thee are plenty of good stereo's out there but not for 150 if you want quality you got to pay for it.

NO! Jeasus christ. Talk about killing an ant with an atomic bomb. Dang, do you guys throw away your cars when they run out of gas?
The problem with binding controls is you used your cup holder and something spiled 99% of the time. the other 1% of the time, something else got in there. Regardless, there's something in there and you need it out.
-The soloution is VERY easy. Pull the head unit, clean off what you can from the outside with alcohol and q tips. If it works, then reinstall unit.
-if not, open the unit, clean off more, and check for operation of controls. If it works reinsall unit
-Otherwise, douse in alcohol, shake it up, drain it out, let dry for 6 hr - 24 hr (alcohol dries fast)
- and always wait until the unit is dry before re-applying power.
Seriously, if you're going to buy a new unit as the other people have suggested on this thread, send the old one to me. You should attempt the cleaning.

Dude, if he has to use tools (pliers I'm guessing) to try to crank the volume, seems to me there is something internally wrong. I may be mistaken. Hopefully I am and he can fix it with the rubbing alcohol. I dont know, sounds F.U.B.R'ed to me though.
