Default Headlight Wiring...

Where is the power wire for the headlights located at??? My guess would be one of the wires coming from the turn knob that turns the headlights on but I am not exactly sure and dont want to start cutting wires if it is not needed. The reason why I want to know where it is at is cause I want to wire my indiglo gauges, my neon light in the back window, and my 2 neon lights underneath the dash to the headlight power wire!!! I only want them to come on when it is dark out and that is when I turn my headlights on!!! Also they would flash on and off with my alarm...which would look pretty cool. Thanx for any info...

The problem with running too many accessories off that one headlight power switch is that you may overload that switch/circut.

I would run them off the standard dash light power wire before the dimmer switch.

In regards to getting them to flash with the alarm...that would take and electronics guru, which I am not.

BTW...moving to INTERIOR forum. You'll get better replies there.

In the fuse box under the hood one of the middle fuses says like HEAD/FOG/etc or something. Just tie that little bad boy round the connecter and shove it back in there. Get some wire tubing to make it pretty and your done. I did it for my chrome /w blue LED washer nozzles and they blink when I arm my alarm, and come on when I turn my parking/head lights on.

The wire you want if you want them to come on with your lights and also blink with your alarm is a white 16 gauge wire coming from the ignition harness. You must drop the bottom dash to get to it. It is the only 16 gauge white wire in the harness this wire is for your parking lights and is the one the alarm is tapped into already.

16 gauge wire??? I tried to wire them to a white wire with a green line on it. It came from the ignition harness. It gave them power but they came on whenever my car was turned on...

Trust me I do this for a living the wire is completly white the wire you tapped into (white with stripe) is not what you want. Trust me it is the 16 gauge completly white wire coming from your ignition harness. IT IS THE ONLY ONE.

No biggie. There are a few white with colored stripes under there but the gauge of the wire is about the thickness of a tooth pick like 20 gauge. The white wire will be in a cluster of wires that are the same gauge a red a brown etc.. to make sure you have the right one trace the wire if it leads into the steering column you have the right one because this white wire goes up to the handle on the left that controls your lights. Hope all my info helps you out and if not post a reply or e-mail/PM me and I will walk you threw it.
