Default Hardwire a Radar Detector?

Can i just cut of the end of the power cord of my radar detector and then use the wires coming out of it to use a fuse tap on a fuse? Or do you know anywhere i could find a universal hardwiring kit for it? Thanks

In my Tib I just tapped the power wire into a 10amp fuse (using fuse tap) and connected the negative to a bolt on the chassis.

In my Genesis, the fuses are mini, so I'm looking for a mini fuse tap, and I haven't found a decent grounding place yet near the drivers seat. I might tap into another wire, but I don't want to pull the dash off yet.
