Default Good car alarm?

Just wondering what car alarms you guys are running and what are some real good alarms out there. I currently do not have an alarm and don't know any good brand name one's. I've known friends/family that have had an alarm on, with bad experiences.

Currently looking at CompuStar. Are they decent in your opinion?

Compustar isn't bad. I have an Autopage that I have been very happy with.

IMO install quality is a lot more important than alarm quality. Although cheap crappy alarms tend to false a lot more than a quality alarm in my experience.

i had a Viper one, had it installed locally for 1$ when i bought it through them.

I really liked it. I had the proximity system on it, which did a warning beep if anyone was within around 2 feet.. annoying at times, but pretty much assured that people wouldn't break in it again.

I got a viper one setup on my car, took a good couple hours to wire it, but its nice to have a car you can start remotely, have all those extra features that seem small to some; like on the model I have it has a built in turbo timer, which is gonna come in handy when I install my turbo. I'm not sure about other alarms, my sister and I both have Viper systems and work great.

Second! I use the Viper 5701 and love it. Remote start and power door locks are great in the winter. False alarms happen about once a month, but I live a few blocks from the naval airbase, and it doesn't false anywhere near as mush as the others in my area. I suggest a 2-way remote also, real peace of mind knowing my keys will go off with the alarm.

BTW: The price on viper's website is more than I paid for mine new and installed at a local store.
