pure silver is the best conducting metal but its only slightly more than copper, and silver can tarnish.

Actually, from best to worst.. it goes Platinum, Gold, Silver, Copper. Gold and Plat do not corrode

OK, well aside from a couple of cover plates that need to be made and carpetted the trunk is now pretty much finished.

I went out thismorning with the flu and put the new amp in, few sweaty dizzy moments and a couple of mess ups but I got there in the end.

I have been out driving for the past hour and my whole body is shaking, having the flu doesnt help but i think i have messed up the fluid in my ears and i feel really dizzy now lol.

bottom line? its dangerous, really really dangerous.

Screen and dvd player arrive tomorrow, will get them done saturday (pretty simple stuff the hard work is already done smile.gif )

^^ your trunk is starting to get pretty full mang! I'd look at fiberglassing it. Nice amp. Can't really see it in the picture very well though.

Usually that's why they gold pate copper connections, and put rubber around the outside.

The trunk is almost complete now, not much more to go in.. Im going to have to put the EQ somewhere else lol..

All that is left to do is fab up a couple of cover plates out of mdf and carpet them, to hide the wires from the cap and the audiobahn.

The audiobanh cranks out something like 600w RMS into mono, but its a class A so it sounds really nice.

The only problem is atm is it seems a bit volume happy, IE its reaching max power at around half the volume sweep and burying the hi end.

This will be resolved soon, the zeropoint is going to power another component group on pods in the back shelf.

screen and player arrive tomorrow, got the garage booked on saturday. Cant wait, shouldnt be that hard to get it all buttoned up before christmas now smile.gif

i dont want to stray too far off this thread, but thats not right. pure silver is the single best electrical conductor, followed by copper. gold and platinum are not better at all, they are just used for contact-type applications because they do not corrde, as you put it. the actual electrical resistivity numbers for silver and copper is lower than that of gold and platinum.

^^ Oxidize is the proper terminology. I'll vouch for everything T01 says. Although silver is the best, it is not THAT much better then copper.

Pandy: Dude, i think with what you have now, you may be best off to make a speaker enclosure and a surround to fit your amp rack with fiberglass. It would look like your trunk was 'designed' for music. Otherwise you have some boxes in your trunk. IMO. If you could stretch some drop cloth across the area, then fiberglass over it, it would be a matter of cutting, sanding and attatching it just like MDF afterwards.

Yeah that has been mentioned about how everything is boxed seperately..

I'm from the old skool, which means no fibreglass lol.. Not only that but because of the way I treat my system (every day is SPL day lmao and the volume knob has one position, full, I tend to go through parts like crap through a goose.)

Thus, I always build systems modular. Looks are not overly important to me, it's what I crank out that matters.. The box is a 70's kinda deal based on ratfink, kinda like the tib..

I do have to get them cover plates done to tidy it, but as long as it remains clean and tidy and is easy to pull something (IE - burnt amp) and replace/ repair it quickly then cool beans smile.gif

With the tib and the system I chose it was always going to be hard tbh, All I have really done is kept it neat with alot of attention paid to wiring and tidyness and kept it modular in the event something needs to be swapped out.

Infact thismoring I got my first warning from a cop.. I didnt even have it that loud as it was only 8am.. My step brother is currently in a tent outside best buy so he can get a PS3 lmao... So I got up, drove to DD to get a coffee and went to say goodmorning.. Cop pulls up alongside me and says "hey ! hfksjlhjklhjkslfhkj (that part I didnt get because I couldnt hear him)" So I turned it off and he yells "Hey ! My mirrors are vibrating so that means it's too loud ! turn it the hell down" So I says "sorry guvnor" at which point he threw me a really confused look and drove away. lmao.gif

Yeah, it's loud. Very very loud. According to my step brother he can hear me about a minute before I arrive in the parking lot. I took it into a garage late last night to do some gain/xo tweaks and the entire gas station roof was vibrating.

I really must learn to turn it down, my hearing is f***ed enough as it is :S

Just as a very very rough idea check this pic.

the audiobahns ends will be capped off and the 'caps' will meet into the rest, so in theory the only blue flake part you will see will be the top of the box...

Here in this pic youll see green blobs lol. The one on the farthest left will be fixed about 5 inches off the floor of the tib to cover over the wires coming out of the cap box and the 2 others will case in the ends of the audiobahn amp and follow into the sides of the trunk..

Also to remember is my seating setup. Pictured here...

So you'll note that it is color coded.

Next I am going to remove the back seat and have it covered in a custom made cover using speaker grille cloth and a sewing machine, and basically have the back seat black on the sides with a blue band going through the middle.. At which point I will bracket them together as one piece and have already removed one bracket that holds them back so that they come down as one unit for wiring access..

I cant use the back seats anyways because #1 the seats dont tilt enough and the harnesses would decapitate anyone unfortunate enough to get in the back, so it's purely cosmetic lmao.gif

You'll see in the end smile.gif I'm not the best in the world at this stuff but I am good at setting a goal and getting it achieved. Im not one of these people to start something that I know I cant finish.. Case in point I set my goal this year to complete the interior (that includes the sounds, screens, dvd player and gamecube w/ wavebirds) and the back seat, and Im right on target smile.gif

Then in spring the tib gets repainted in house of kolor with pearls.

^^^ sounds like it would look pretty good, but have you considered carpeting the box as well?
