Gntk-177 Rear View Mirror
This is a Gentex auto dimming rear view mirror with the LED compass and temperature display. From what I've found searching the net, it seems as though this will work in my 2001 Tib. Thought I'd put a post here on this forum and see if anyone has one of these on their car or is familiar with it at all. Thanks in advance for any input.
any mirror will fit in your car, but you will have to heat up the stock mount off the glass, and then glue a wedge mount button in its place. also, you will need the wiring harness for the mirror, and temp. sensor. as in, you cant buy just the mirror and expect it to work. you will have to buy the kit.
good luck though, that thing is hella expensive.

Hey Tibby01, I see in your "Many mods" post you were putting in a rear view mirror with auto dim, compass and such...have you installed this? If so would it be possible to shoot a couple of pictures of it and how you mounted it?

i think that one looks cool, i dunno if i would want 2 more map lights...and i've always thought that that little sticker on the mirror which displays the temp/compass was sorta annoying. this one is half the price and looks better imo.
i've been wanting to do this mod for awhile, tibby i can't wait for your diy.

When I installed my BMW unit.. I took my stock mirror apart. The back side of the BMW mirror's base had three screw holes in it. I then removed the mounting "Shoe" from the hyundai mirror and drilled that to match the three screw holes. It was just a simple matter of screwing the hyundai "Shoe" onto the bmw mirror

hehe, I'll be waiting for our diy as well. when i got my windshield replaced for some reason the mirror wouldn't fit over the button right. well I was messing with it try to get it on and screwed up my mirror... lol. so I think I might pick up one like tibby01 has (i was looking at those on ebay a couple weeks ago) and install it.
That Exon model seems like a suspiciously good deal. Is the quality really as good as the comparable Gentex and Donnely models? I seem to remember them going for a lot more, and with a lot less features and sensors.
Edit: Nevermind, lack of maplights explains it.

even the gentex and donnelly without maplight are still a good 70 dollars more. i hooked up the mirror to a power supply, shut the doors in the garage, and hit it right on the sensor with a bright ass white led. it dimmed right to blue.
