Is there a DIY anywhere for this? Where would be the best spot to mount the light?

 

Here is what i would Suggest, It is a Raptor Shift light, Has all the same functions as the one about, has a 3 wire install, and Also All that you see on the dash is it, it is all completely programably, and is self contained adjusted by 3 small pots within the housing! Very nice, I have had that one installed for about 6 years and working like a Boss ever sense, I also run this on my Supra...

that exposed wire would drive me nuts.

 

It is normally tucked down, I just installed the Gauges to left!
