gauges for car
IMO I wouldn't get another tach doesn't make sense but if you want one get one. Most people just add a shift light. As for myself I'm going to add a A/F meter, two amp. temp. guages, and probably a volt meter. But I'm rebuilding the dash under the radios and making a custom inclosure for the new guages. I have a friend who is adding a bigger tach and shift light but he got a good deal on it that is why he is installing it. But do what you want it's your car.

I agree with you, I do not like a tach on a car that already has a tach. I just don't see the point. The aftermarket tach may be more accurate...but only a few on this forum are to the stage in their cars/engine that they need +/- 100RPM accuracy from their tach.
The water temp I CAN understand. I hate having a gauge with just "H" and "L", I would like to see what tempature the Coolant is to gauge engine performance, modification performance...etc..etc..etc..

A monster tach does look good yes and is mostly for show. But if it has a shift light built in then it serves more of a purpose than just looks. I think it is a waste w/o the light. The water temp guage I do have in my car and I also have and oil temp guage. I agree with random that it is better to see more than just H or L. Moslty though the only real reason to do this is for racing purposes to keep an eye on monitoring the engine. Other than that there just for ****s and giggles.
