Default finally........trunk build done

AIMS: keep a usuable trunk space
make somnething completely unique

finally made a start on my trunk build.
Had a sony xploder amp sitting in my boot for ages i bought off blueboy on ukhcs, put it in the custom back speaker boxes i had made, threw in a pair of JBL 12inch subs and that was that.me done.i couldnt be bothered tbh.

so iv redone the wiring that faz did from the engine bay, replaced the leads to the boot from the radio, purchased a double socket as i only had 1 pre-out,changed where the wiring went through to the trunk(was getting interference).

just bought a JVC KD-LH811 and fitted
got a JVC CH-X400 Car CD Changer dirt cheap

bought
Kenwood KFC-1761S 17cm 6.5" 3 Way Flush Mount Speaker
for the front, they sound fantastic by the way

and then bought some

Kenwood KFC-M6932A 3-Way Flush Mount 6 x 9" Car Speakers for rear
wired it all in with decent wire and hey presto!!

now gotta get on with boxes recovered etc etc.

ok well i decided no spare wheel.
its a no brainer really.itried the space saver on and its not safe to drive with 18's on.so its going.
im also removing the jack and its brackets etc.Its all weight saving anyway.
the spare wheel well has been covered in sound proofing as well to ensure the best sound all round, and iv covered a suitable bit of board with red leather and my amp now lives down a hole.........next step is sort the wires out
i could waste leather covering the sound proofing but im not going to as it wont be seen when the spare wheel cover goes back on.Thats currently bald. The carpet has been removed and a large piece of red leather cut.Its now being embroidered with pictures of musical instruments and some writing...
Next bit is to cover the edging and then the wheel well cover and replace. Then the speaker boxes will be done-with a tribute to the designer-and a little bit of something special on the seat backs

so with that sunk.............lets do the trunk floor

ok the panels in and trimmed..........speaker boxes next

before you say it....i hate having amps on view

looks like you put a lot of time into it

looks good cept the embroidery seems a bit "busy"

EDIT:

kept the same post but noticed it sounded really negative, i dont mean to say its not bad ass, i would LOVE to have a setup like that for the maxima, just without the embroidery

hmmm, heres a thought, add vinyl to the seat backs to match the red

the black cloth seems out of place

that is so badass! i have to admit, i've seen all these fiberglass and carpeted lit up trunks, but none of them are as classy as this. i always think that things that look factory are the classiest. that's why i love watching Chip Foose's Overhaulin'. Those guys have some real professionalism and that's what i think you've got here. i really like it.

the only thing i would change, is adding screens to the speakers out of the fear that one day you'll be turning and tasty pineapple will puncture right through one of them. (just an example wink.gif )

**EDIT: i've got an idea for you. can you make vinyl covers or rear trunk shelf covers for our tiburons? those things get so nasty and dirty and they are uncleanable, it would be a win-win. the only thing you'd have to match is color, and shipping would be a breeze.
