ok, well as the title states, I would like some feedback on the Alpine IDA-X001 head unit, as I am thinking of selling my jensen touch screen, for the alpine. I was just wondering if anyone has ever used this unit, or have seen its use, and any comments on it.

I checked one of these out at Best Buy yesterday, VERY nice head unit.
If they made one of these that also played DVD's with video output, I'd be all over it.

Go read the Cnet review on it, it's not bad, but I've been looking through Cnet a bunch today and have found some others I REALLY like.
Check this JVC out.

That thing is awesome.
I'm still looking at others, but that JVC one can be got for about $350, and it just does everything I need.

if you are going to stay with the blue display, then yes. if you wanted red, no. it's more of a pink and that is why i didnt go with it.
the other reason is it is digitally recorded music only, no cd capabilities.
another thing to think about when getting this HU is getting the rest of the doodads they make for this HU. you may not be able to use it to its fullest without all the other products they make for this HU which in turns makes it uberexpensive.

well, Ursonvs, if your talking about the IDA-X001, im not buying it from a retailer, im getting it from a guy i know, who owns a sound shop in town here, it was ordered for a customers car, but they changed their mind and ended up getting a different one, so he just decided to sell it, and I checked up on everything its coming with everything i will need, ipod usb, full speed usb and such and will cost me ~ $220

Very true ABQ. I'm still running the Alpine you gave me years ago, it's going into the Sorento when I get my new unit.
