Dumb question re: bridging and impedance
Exactly, I want a 2 ohm stereo load on my door speaker, not mono. All I am trying to accomplish is get the most power for the least amount of money. I don't want to spend tons of cash on my system. I have found numerous 4 channel amps like Sony, Fosgate, Alpine in the $150 to $170 range. They only put out like 50 watts RMS @ 4 ohm and like 75 to 100 RMS @ 2 ohm. My assumption would be that 75 watts would be able to go louder and stay cleaner than 50 watts would, or am I wrong in assuming this.
My whole point of this thread is to get bang for the buck. I'm not a tighta$$, I'll spend more if I need to, but I just don't cherish my car system as much as others do, therefore I would like to dump my cash in to other things, like trips to Vegas, Reno, Tahoe........etc.

Okay......recommendation #2
Ditch the rear speakers.Bridge the 2 front channels for the left front speaker and bridge the 2 rear speakers for the right front. This way the front speakers have more power and you still have a stereo set up.
Problem is,will those speakers handle 200Wrms?? Probably not.
The only other thing you could do is get yourself 2 impeadance matching transformers.Hook these between the amp outputs and the front speakers. This will make the amp see a 2 ohm load on each front ch,and kick out 100Wrms to each front.

Hmmmmmmmm.....I think your first recommendation is the best then. I will just need to buy a 75 watt RMS @ 4 ohm amp.
Thanks for all your help on this, especially since I don't understand this SHlT!!!

Hey All... The Zeb.com is where I buy all my stereo equipment. I just bought a 175x4 Crunch amp for $126 Shipped. You can turn down the power on the amp to match what you need. Not a bad price...
I used to use a crunch amp for 2 Audiobahn subs and it out performed anything I would have thought it could do. It was a different model obviously but I have friends that have had great success with their stuff as well. Plus you are buying from a well known dealer.

i'm telling you right now...if you bring you mids and highs down to 2 ohm...they will sound like crap! 4ohms!! no bridging!!
sorry for the misinfo...above about the coil...i had my wife yapping and forgot what i was typing!! dunno suicide

ONLY1DB.............you probably are right. That's one thing I have never tried, except for bridging front/rear for a pair of midbass speakers.I was just trying to give him as many scenarios as I could think of.
trust me i have fooled around with enough crap and trying different things...because all my friends are ghetto and don want to spend money for good ****....you dont even want me to get started on the crap that i have installed or wired up......2 ohms for subs only!
