Door lock actuator
My drivers side lock actuator stopped working a couple of months ago and I bought a new one through a local dealer. How hard are these to actually remove and install? Is it just a matter of unbolting a few bolts and putting the new one back in place? I havent yet taken off my door panel to see what kind of work this involves so hoping some of you can give me a hand as to how much of a pain in the ass this will.
Once you take off the door it will all become clear. The door lock are just rods and the actuator attaches to the rod and pushes/pulls it depending on the current. Fairly simple.
Btw, which charleston are you at? SC?

Hi. I do hope there will be a more detailed instructions on how to replace a door lock actuator. I also have the same problem. I dont want to bring it to the mechanic because it will be too costly.

i have one for sale from the elantra (same one as tib). i'll probably ask $17 shipped. i just have to check if it works and it's the drivers side.
it's actually really easy to replace. just remove the door panel. there are 3 bolts holding it in place. 2 clips holding the locking arms. after you do it you will find out just how easy it is.
