dome light coloring
#11
I tried to just color the bulb with a blue PERMANENT marker and ended up lasting like 2 days and then went back to the original bulb... I was thinking of coloring the lense with paint. I've tried colored bulbs at Pep Boys doesn't work.. Gonna go with the lense this time.

I taped the ends of my light bulbs with masking tape then painted the bulbs red with 500 degree engine paint. Works great!! The marker thing didn't work for me. It melted off rolleyes.gif

I thought this would be a good idea at first. I changed it to red bulbs. My first thought, "ooooohhh Red!!!"
*one week later*
"oooooohhhhh Purple!!*
*two weeks later*
"oooooohhh yellow*
*three weeks later*
burnt out.
Woopdy doo!!! Don't waste your time. When you actually need your domelights there isn't enough light anyways.

Yeah, it would be pretty nice to have a different colored bulb in the dome, but also, if its painted, you wont have enough light. I'd get the color that matches the outside of your car, and would prolly use high tempurature paint, or find bulbs of that color. For a SURE bet, ask "spitfiretiburon" where he got his bulbs. Colored bulbs made especially for your car should work the best. I use to own a 2001 Chevy Cavalier, I'm sorry, that car kicked @ss. Well, after all my mods, but I traded it in for a tibby. smile.gif I got bored and needed something new, but yeah, I painted the dome light thing with nail polish, worked pretty good. Then again, its easy to find chevy parts. smile.gif Late

Colouring the bulb with marker only lasts about a week before it turns a yellowy brown.
I don't know what kind of marker you guys are using but mine looked so bad I had to put the factory ones back in. tongue.gif

The red marker won't work as many have stated. However, I heard people had success with nail polish of all things. However, I know some places that do sell colors dome lights. Supposedly a company called Pilot makes them. But I have yet to find a website...
