Custom gauges
yeah, im having a problem with them right now.
i cant use just transparencies, because i cant make the part that you want to block light dark enough. so i printed up some of the designs on photopaper, but then spending all that time cutting things out with a razorblade makes it pointless.
i think im just gonna try running the transparency through the printer 50 times.

Here's an idea... It would cost a little more but you might be able to solve your problem by having your design silk screened. Some local print shops could probably figure something out along those lines. To do one would be expensive, but a lot of them shouldn't be too expensive per piece.
I kind of thought that this would be a problem after thinking about it some more. You cant use photo paper like you said before without cutting out the spots where you need the light to go through. I didnt think that black on a tranparency would work.
Running the transparency through 50 times would be pointless too, since the paper does not go in exactally straight each time.
You Could try using like 3 black transparencies or so together and see if the light still shines through...
Besides Silk Screening, you could get Vynal cut and put that over the original guage face. A Thermal Cutter would be badass for this...

Hmmm.... This is interesting. I stumbled onto these guys by accident. If we have a design set up they could make the guage faces. Gotta do a custom design like I mentioned before; something with a shark emblem or tiburon written into the guage face so that it lights up.

I'm curious to know what they use and how much they'd charge. But seems how tibby01 has already been working on a design and has all the dimensions already, I figure I'll see what his take is on this. wink.gif I say we revive this idea. I want custom guages! laugh.gif
