Cracking noise behind the dash
Ok, I've been meaning to ask for a while, but it wasn't really a big thing, just bugged the hell out a me.
Anyway, anyone ever hear a "Crack!" noise behind the dash area? It kinda sounds like when you get a stone chip onto your windshield, there's been a few times when I've dodged left or right when I heard it.
Anyway, it's Kinda behind coming from behind the centerconsole? This only happens in the winter and fall when it starts to get cold, never in the summer. So I'm guessing it's just the plastic expanding and contracting, from the warm up.
Just wanna confirm with some you guys,...
Random, any thoughts?

Thanks!

I have the same thing. What happens is what you said. When you first start to drive the interior is cold and stiff and when turning or stoping, running over bumps etc.. it starts to make noise cause it can't flex due to it's stiffness (kinda like craking your neck cause it's stiff and once you do you can turn it further around). After the platic and all the other parts warm up it begins to be able to flex and the noise goes away thats why in the summer it doesn't happen due to the air temp being warm enough to keep the plastic warm and flexable. So to make a long story short it's normal I have and probably everyone on this forum has heard it except for those lucky punks that live it Cali. (
jk) where it hardly ever gets cold.

Yeah they would look at it but they would tell you the same thing I did beleive me that is the source of the problem and by the time you got it to the dealer the interior would be warm and the interior would be able to flex and the noise wouldn't be there. Now if the noise is still there after the car has warmed up then I might think about taking it to the dealer but then again over time even if you own a Lexus things loosen up and will begin to make noise some you can fix some you have to live with ya know.
