I'm looking at a 1 farad cap for my system.
2 questions about this. 1.) Can I just use the 1 farad and put it before my distribution block?? (as close to amps as possible of course) 2.) OR should i just get 2 .5 farad caps and have them after the dist. block??? my amps are 300w rms and 240w rms respectively. |
I don't think it matters much as long as the cap isn't too far from the amps.I don't think you'll get that much of a voltage drop thru a couple pieces of cable that are no more then 2Ft or so.

what do you need 2.5 farad caps for if your only running 540 watts?? each farad is good for a 1000 watts

No, he is asking if he should use a single 1F at the input of his dist block to feed 2 amps, or use 2 seperate .5F caps at the output. One .5F for each amp.
Ohhh..........and that 1F per 1000W is 1000Wp.Just wanted to make sure every one understands that. wink.gif |

Also, i will be running power down the drivers side and put dist. block and cap on that side also, directly behind my sub amp. How will 2.5 - maybe 3 ft affect performance to my amp for my front and rears??? |
1000W-Peak power.A capacitor charges to peak power, not RMS.So all you do is take the rms power and devide by .707 to give you the peak value.Don't worry, your amount of power is well within 1000Wp.

sorry bout that..i misread it
