Default Can you fit an amp under the seats?

Hi I was wondering if anyone knew if you can fit a 4 channel amp under the passenger or driver seat? Im thinking I want to do that and get a powered subwoofer with an amp built in for the trunk section. I dont like amps and wires all over the place so this is why my brain is telling me to put an amp under the seats. Thank you for the help. wub.gif

depending on the size of the amp, you should be able to fit it under the seats, but i would be worried about it getting kicked by the passenger or people in the back.. or the extra dirt that gets that low in the car just being tracked in.

there are some clean ways to install an amp so you don't have wires all over.

what size amp are you looking to go with?

plus the fact that under the seat it really doesnt get air to help cool it down

Keep in mind a) there are heater vents under the seats and cool.gif there isn't any airflow under the seats.

I actually HAVE an amp under my passenger seat and it's a big one. It's a 2-channel class AB Sony Mobile ES from the days before such things were miniaturized. The rear footwell floormat kicks up a little bit and covers the back of the amp, and that is well under the seat. You have to actually know what you are looking for, and at, to notice it is there. It runs warm to the touch, but not so you can't keep your hand on it (40-45 deg. C).

If you got a class D amplifier, you could run a pretty powerful 4-channel amp under a seat and have no problems with cooling. Remember that there is a relatively large airspace under there and natural convection will take care of quite a bit of heat, especially if you keep the a/c turned down like we Texans have to do.
