Depending on the cap, some get a little hot. So if you do paint it, I would recommend getting high temp paint to be on the safe side. Also, don't paint the posts. You need a good solid conection for the wires to clamp on to when you attach them. Otherwise, have fun and knock yourself out doing it!

There should be no problem painting the cap with normal paint. If a capacitor gets hot,it is usually cause there's something wrong with it,or you have it wired wrong.

If your cap gets hot, you have a serious problem!

Heh. I have a blue stiffening cap, and I wanted red. Ironic, huh?

Yeah, and if it gets hot, that's the least of your worries!!! A small electrolytic cap will blow like an M-80.Just imagine the boooom a 1 F cap would make!!

You might also want to consider powdercoating it.

But for paint, I'd go with the Metalcast Anodized Paint system by Duplicolor. PERFECT blue... You'd love it.
