probably would come down to personal preference but i have yet to mod anything and am wanting to start small build up confidence and have decided to start with some interior stuff. I have no problems with hard work or time consuming as i have my weekends free so i guess the real question would be which is better for long term?

No. DONT buy it. Rd2 and rd1 have different dashs. Just pull it out and paint it. take your time though and do a few coats, then a few coats of Clear. check the DIY section

Don't do it!! The pieces either don't want to fit, or cover such a small area it wasn't worth the $$.
Painting would be much better imo.

I'm pretty sure Dmitry has a woodgrain version of that stick-on kit. Ask him about how well it fits & how it looks in the flesh.
I would paint the dash if a different coloured dash is what you want.
