I know a couple of people who have them and they seem to put out an incredible amount of bass but I cant tell if its the subs that are in them or the way the box is designed. Most people usually have either sealed or ported but you dont hear very much about bandpasses. So whats the deal?

They're designed for bass heads. That's all they're for is heavy bass, no matter what sub is in there. IMO, all they do is drown out your music. I had one in my Jeep Wrangler when I was in high school. That was the only time I can say it sounded decent to me, because it was a soft top and enough of the bass would escape to make it seem as though a normal sub box was back there.
