Amp
Does an amp by different companies but the same power change sound quality? For instance a boss 1200w amp vs a audiobahn 1200w amp? Anyone know if boss amps are any good? thanks.

one thing ive learned is that max output power doesnt mean anything. its the rms that kicks. For instance my Pioneer amp was 760 watts max power w.150w rms. Now ive got my Audiobahn. Its much better and is only 400 watts max power but has 200w rms. I believe the Audiobahn is 400x1 200x2 and the Pioneer is 150x2.I think that pretty much sums it up.

it shouldnt sound too bad.IMO you get what you pay for.In my case I paid $170 for the Pioneer 760w amp and Im getting rid of it because the $220 400w Audiobahn sounds much better. There are a lot of things to consider. If you get a "name brand" like Audiobahn, JL Audio or Rockford Fosgate, you'll get good sound and less distortion rather than if you went with say Lightening Audio or some other brand just trying to start out. Think about it..Would you buy a Hyundai or some new car built by Motorola? lol.You want experience.A brand that has a history. If you are simply trying to upgrade stock speakers you dont need a GREAT amp. If your like me and want to power four 12" subs you NEED a great amp lol. In any case, trial and error is the best method. If you wire up ure amp and arent satisfied go bigger.Make sure however that the rms of the subs are equal to or NOT MUCH HIGHER than the rms of the amp.you dont want to over or under power the subs too much.I have 4 subs running into 2 channels ran parallel. So each sub is getting 100 watts. Each sub's rms is 150 watts. And the sound is beautiful.I hope this served a purpose to you and I wasnt just rambling on lol
