I'm gonna be investing into a car alarm/remote start here possibly within the next week or two, and just wondering what everybody's favorite is. My car is a manual, but I really want a remote start for the winter. I want the 2-way pager option too, and a LCD screen on the remote would be nice. Anyway, any suggestions?

DEI will do anything compustar will do, and it's usually cheaper. I personally prefer DEI products (e.g., Directed, Viper, Avital, etc.) and would consider those when investing in alarms with remote starters. Make sure whoever installs the remote starter will warranty their work... I know a guy who had his done at Circuit City and it fried his ignition cable within 6 months.
I personally have an AST Ultra Starters alarm/remote starter and love it. I've had a few problems with the brain and had it replaced, but if I were to do it again, I'd go DEI.

I'd get Clifford too. I'm running a G4 Intelliguard 7000 with Intellistart IV, both of those pre-DEI and much better than the current DEI versions. But that's a matter of opinion I suppose.
Intellistart is integrated in some of their alarms. It's ideal for manual cars, since it's foolproof. No chance of it starting in gear. The post-DEI takeover IS units DO work with manual, but they no longer officially support that or include instructions, since DEI is against remote starts in manual vehicles.
Plus, the Cliffnet software is very nice. So much easier to set everything via pc vs a button and siren chirps.
And don't get it installed at Best Buy or Circuit city, unless you want to redo it yourself or pay someone else in six months. Budget several hundred for the install, and shop around for a good installer, just like you would a tattoo artist (or whatever you shop around for).

i have a black widow 2-way alarm/remote start on my car. The price was very good, lots of nice features and install support from their website if you are doing a DIY.
