Okay, I just spent like 4 hours re wiring shit under my dash, and had to cut out most of the wiring from my old radar detector. Anyways, I'm looking at picking up a new one on Tuesday online, unless I can find a decent one locally.
I want CORDLESS.
Let me say this again, C O R D L E S S.
I don't want any opinons on wired ones, unless you are telling me a personal story comparing the 2.
Some of the ones I'm currently looking at are...
http://www.buyradardetectors.com/products/...er-xtr-185.aspx
http://www.buyradardetectors.com/products/...er-de-1788.aspx
http://www.buyradardetectors.com/products/...rt-solo-s2.aspx
The solo s2 is great, but a bit out of my price range.

I know you said CORDLESS, BUT have you looked into hardwireing it into something up in the headliner of your car?
My friend hard wired his escort passport 8500, to his auto rearview mirror. Since his detector is mounted on the mirror the cord is virtually invisable.
AS for the completely cordless, I have some questions. What happens at night with the solar powered one?
Im just sayin, all corded ones dont have to have a 2ft wire hangin in plain view.

i've got the solo s2. hardwired to my car, AA batteries down to fla. it's great but i would like the new gps-aided one. i've never had any problems. i'd say it was worth the cash. the problem i have with it is it's a bit short range, even when hardwired. another problem is the suction cups on it suck and it falls off every now and then if left on.
hmm, there's a new passport 9500i out, gps-aided, VG-2 invisibility and voice alert backed by popular mechanics. pricey, but cool.

Word. Mine has about 2 inches of wire exposed and is mounted on the passenger side next to the rear view mirror. MPs have not noticed it once through the gate.

But, not cordless.
If you need a cordless, The Solo S2 is my choice.

^^ They're also illegal in some states. Look, It's all a big game. We tuners need a reminder every once in a while to slow our asses down. We have cars which we have built up and they show. Cops target us.
I accidentally did a California stop at a stop sign with a speed bump in front of it. It felt like I had stopped because of the speed bump. Every car pulling out of the gas station does it. I watched 7 cars in a row do it while I smoked a cigarette later. Guess which person was targeted as an offender.... The guy with the noticeable car.

No, I haven't looked at doing that, because I'm not going to. I don't want to run any more wires or splice anything else in my car that I don't absolutely have to. Plus, I want to be able to put it in my glovebox or center console and not have any wires on the dash or elsewhere.
The other one isn't solar powered, the solar panel on top is to help keep it's charge. At night, it works on battery alone.

I've heard a lot of stuff on the passports, but didn't know that any of them were wireless. I'm leaning towards the SOlo 2, but good lord that thing is expensive! I don't mind having to use a cord on long trips either, but cordless for day to day is for me.

Wow, that's great, but completely nothing to do with what I asked. You looking for another warning dTN?

I'll keep an eye out for one today online. Let me know if you see anything.

possibly try doing the speed limit. ??
edit: i'll also add that these are illegal in some countries (like australia). please check the law 1st.

Possibly try to read the thread? Who said anything about speeding? I've had a radar detector on my vehicles for about 13 years now, and it's made me a MUCH better driver. I rarely if ever speed anymore, and the added protection of knowing to be extra mindful when police are around helps out a BUNCH, like DTN said above, if they radar a group of 3 or 4 cars, and they are all doing +5 over the limit, who are they pulling over? The modified car.
Not to mention, many police, ambulances, rescue, and other safety vehicles have devices that set off radar detectors, which will tell you that there is an accident up ahead, an emergency, ect. I really like to have one for these too.
As for checking the laws, maybe you should? They are legal in all of the USA except for DC and Virginia, both of which I'd never drive my car through (not to mention they are about a 13 to 15 hour drive from here).
Check this one out. Talk about hideable.

A few others on my research list (including a few corded ones).
Whistler XTR 695

The Bell in that article also.

Whistler 78 pro.
I really don't want to spend more than $200 for a new detector, my old Uniden one was good, and served me for about 7 years.

Have you considered hard wiring it? It only has like 2in of wire showing if you do it right. J/K!! Wow people, he's asking for a cordless detector, and all you offer is ways to hardwire it? Try some advice on cordless ones!
For truly cordless, it'd either have to run on batteries which you replace and recharge all the time or be solar powered, like the one you showed. Obviously. I'm not a fan of having to constantly replace and recharge batteries, unless you just plugged in the detector to you car on occasion. But that defeats the purpose of being cordless... So I'd go for the solar powered one. I couldn't find any helpful reviews on it, and just a couple descriptions of the solar cell, like this:
So it's not going to run fully on the solar cell, but it definitely helps out. And being just about $100 (Amazon), I'd definitely go for this one.

The Whistler XTR-185 is a unique rechargeable cordless radar detector. It is equipped with a solar panel which assists in charging the battery, which means that you can expect slightly better battery life than with similar models (estimated 17 hour battery life). In case the solar panel isn't enough, the XTR-185 has a built-in charger, which lets you charge the batteries by plugging into a normal 12 volt plug.
So it's not going to run fully on the solar cell, but it definitely helps out. And being just about $100 (Amazon), I'd definitely go for this one.

drillsergeant.gif I was ONLY trying to suggest solution that woulden't sacrifice the preformance of the radar detector. AND would probly end up way cheaper.
BUT by all means IF you would want to buy a whole new radar that little is known about, its your money.
You could try not to speed too. Then you wouldent need one.
It seems as if you want something that has that preformance of a V1 or a Escourt, but in reality you will probly get something that works alright with the preformance of a Cobra.
SORRY for the suggestion Ill STFU next time.
