Default .5 Farad Capacitor

For a 500 watt system, is a .5 farad good enough, or should I switch it up to a full 1 farad?

I had a 1 Farad cap on my brake lights once. Made for a nice fade.

^ I LOL'd.

A capacitor is a band-aid fix for an underpowered charging system. Unless yours sucks you should not need any cap at all at 500W.

So many people are anti-caps. They're good if you have a large system, that can momentarily take power away from the rest of the electrical system. I ran a 1 farad in my tib, and it was good. I had a 5 channel soundstream amp powering the fronts, rears, and a 10" sub. You most likely wont need it (my cap was definitely over kill), but I had it for just a peace of mind. Plus my lights never dimmed during big bass drops. 500 watts isnt a big stereo set up, so you should be fine, but if you think your car will need it...go for it.
