last week my RCA strangly fell apart for no reason so i changed them out with some new guys and added a little more dynomat to my trunk because i pulled out the spare and jack while i was at it. i figured seince i just changed it up why not get it measure with the new SPL meter at my shop. some guy running 10,000watts RMS broke it.. hail.gif
so i figured hey why not be the first in line to check it out. we did 3 runs and here is what we came up with
137.4 on the glass regulation style
139.4 on the floor near the center colum
140.00 on the floor at the pass. side kick panel
not bad at all considering i do not have the best sub in my shop, and i bought the box from them too only mod was adding more screws because i broke it apart the first week i had it.

my system is
clarion HU
audiopipe cross over
raptor RCA's
HIGHS/MIDS
audiobahn 400rms@4ohm
(front stage) 2x audiobahn 100rms tweeters-----2xcritical mass 200rms 3.5"-----------2x audiobahn 250rms 6.5"
(rear stage)2x audiobahn componet tweeters-----2x PoPs audio 250rms 6x9's
SUBWOOFER
audiobahn 1600rms @ 1ohm--------------------audiopipe SQ1200RMS @1ohm 15"
TOTAL SYSTEM POWER AT 4000WATTS MAX run with just stock battery and 1 kinetic hc800 dry cell battery
total system weight is ~200lbs but i also have 2 seater conversion with no spare/jack so really its like allways riding with another adult.

^^ 3 inch by 2.5 inch? I hope you mean feet. lmao.gif
My last post was brief because I was at work. I think that is probly the best accoustic area of the entire vehicle. My numbers were comparable to yours everywhere I tested.
How do you break a SPL meter with too much sound? Is it under warranty?

my shop has the meter not me, they just got i last week.
i think the last one was mic based? thats what my guy at the shop said. but that truck who was hitting 10k rms was there getting a bigger box, so big that in his suburban they had to break it up into pieces just to get it in the back. it looked like it was gonna be pretty crazy. but i guess with the old set up they broke it somehow, it was just a mecca mic from what i understand. possibly it couldnt handle the dB level or something? im not sure
yea dtn i meant ft not inches. 25 bucks for 2x3.5 is just crazy
im just about done with the stereo, really i'm just going to do maybe 2-3 other small things
* get a new positive battery terminal, mine is looking hit right about now
* possibly upgrade my cross over to something a little nicer
* more dyna mat where the 3rd brake light cover is, i tried to take it off but it looks just ugly with nothing there. you can see all down into the trunk to and i definatly dont like that
just for fun here is a list of typical noises and their dB levels for some comparison
typical dB levels
here are just a few and the suggest time you could stand them without damaging your hearing
jackhammer 100 dB 2 hours
helicopter 105 dB 1 hour
power mower 105 dB 1 hour
snowmobile drvrs seat 110 dB 30 minutes
inboard motorboat 110 dB 30 minutes
sandblasting 110 dB 30 minutes
live rock music 90-130 dB 8-0.3 hours
auto horn 120 dB 7.5 mins
propeller aircraft 120 dB 7.5 mins
air raid siren 130 dB 3.75 mins
THRESHOLD OF PAIN 140 dB danger level
gunshot 140 dB danger level
jet engine 140 dB danger level
rocket launching 180 dB danger level

Ebay is a great place for battery terminals. I like mine, it's a Tsunami. Its chrome and has a voltage reading. For some reason I get compliments on it. I'm like it's just a $40 battery terminal shipped. I hate that people overlook the rest of the engine and look at my battery terminal.
Where are you talking about by the 3rd brake light cover? You Have a spoilerless setup? Try putting something black there. The tiburons which come stock with a spoiler have that area entirely covered up by window tint.
