Default Orange peel, really?

I wanted to see if anyone has any idea how to repair factory "orange peel" without having to resort to a complete re spray, will a clay bar help?

Probably require a wet sand and buff to completely remove it.

Not sure how bad it is....but ALL cars under $150k will have orange peel in the paint. Unless you pay to have multiple coats and wetsanding done like many 150k+ cars have, you WILL have orange peel. And without orange peel, is no good for a DD, it can scratch and swirl SO easy.

But to answer your question.... wet sanding will get rid of it....along with 50% of your clear coat causing your paint to fail in 1-3 years IF you know what you are doing and have a high dollar PTG (paint thickness gauge). If you are are not a 20 year veteran, you will most likely go thorugh all of your clear and some of your color coat and have to reclear it. Though with the midset of trying to rid your car of orange peel, you could wetsand the new clear coat, and get a few coats and wetsand them all, and then you will have enough of a clear coat left to protect your paint and have no orange peel....for a week or month IF you grage keep your car and DD it. If you park it outside, it might last 1-5 days.

But no a clar bar won't help, it removed particels, it can't remove any paint. Polishing will remove very tiny layers of paint (not enough) and wet sanding basicaly removed the paint so that it is at the bottom of every orange peel so it is now flat and smooth as glass.

Though a $300 Maaco respray won't fix it either really, , unless you mean down to the base and professional $7k respray.

TLR? There is no 'practical' way to remove it and re-spraying would be your best and cheapest bet.
